Duane narrates Texas historical markers as you drive past them, hands-free, eyes up. Here's how to get the most out of him, and how to reach a human. New here? Start with what Duane can do.

Getting started

• Tap Start Drive Mode and let Duane watch the road ahead. When a marker's coming up, he tells its story.
• Use Explore to browse markers on the map, filter by theme (Civil War, Outlaws & Lawmen, Ghost Towns, and more), or search by name, county, or town.
• Pick a trail (Explore › Trails, or Trails near you on Home) and tap Start Trail. Duane tells each stop as you reach it; your maps app handles the turns. Browse trails.
• In Drive Mode, choose Drive, Bike or Walk so Duane looks the right distance ahead.
• Check Home each morning for the "On This Day in Texas" story.

Common questions

Duane isn't finding markers. Make sure Location is turned on for Duane in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Duane uses your location only while the app is open or Drive Mode is on.

A story won't play. Duane's voice streams over the internet; if you're off the grid, he'll read the marker with your device's voice instead. Check your connection and that your volume isn't muted.

A trail stop didn't play. Stops play once you're within about a quarter mile (closer on foot). Tap Navigate on the trail bar to get there, or Skip to move on. Back takes you to a stop you skipped.

My trail didn't count as finished. A trail counts once every stop's story has started. If you skipped any, the trail bar says how many; use Back to pick them up.

Sleep Mode with no signal. In Sleep Mode, tap "Keep an hour ready offline" while you have service. Duane saves about an hour of bedtime stories (about 40 MB) to your phone.

How do I clear my history? Settings → Reset all progress removes your heard and saved stories from your device.
