The way the marker tells it, here's what I know about the Bogs-Hufsmith Cemetery. Now, some stories stretch out across centuries, full of battles and bold-faced names and enough drama to fill a long Texas highway. And then some stories carry their weight in quiet.

This is one of those. The Bogs-Hufsmith Cemetery, out here in Harris County, was established in 1911. That's the whole of what the marker gives us, and maybe that's fitting.

A cemetery doesn't need a long introduction. Somebody chose this ground. Somebody said, this is the place.

And in 1911, it became exactly that. The names in a cemetery are the story, and those names belong to the people who knew them. The marker just holds the door open and tells you when it all began.
