Duane's take

Here's my telling of what the official marker has to say about this place. Now, some stories take a long time to tell. Others say just about everything they need to say in two sentences.

The story of the Harmony Ridge Community site is one of the short ones, and don't let that fool you into thinking it doesn't carry weight. The original building burned in 2005. Gone.

And then, on the very footprint where that first structure stood, a new one rose. Built in 2007, sitting in the same spot, filling the same outline on the ground that the original once claimed. There's something stubborn and something quiet about that, building right back where you lost something.

The land remembers the shape of what was there before, and so do the people who came back to build again. That's the Harmony Ridge Community site, standing where it always stood, even if the walls are newer than you'd think.

What the marker says

The original building burned in 2005. The present structure was built in 2007 on the footprint of the original building.
