Here's my telling of what the official marker has to say about this place. Now, some stories take a long time to tell. Others, well, they say just enough.

Out here in Gonzales County, there's a patch of ground that's been keeping its quiet since 1870. The Odd Fellows Cemetery. Established that year, and still standing as testament to the folks who saw fit to set this land aside.

In 2002, the state of Texas recognized it as a Historic Texas Cemetery. That's the marker's full account, friend, and sometimes the most enduring stories are the ones told in the fewest words. A cemetery founded in 1870, still here, still remembered.

Not every place needs a long tale. Some just need to be acknowledged.
