Oden Cemetery

Duane's take

Here's my tellin' of what the official marker has to say about this place. Oden Cemetery. Established 1888.

Some stories, friend, arrive in a single breath. And this one does just that. Out here in Somervell County, someone chose a patch of ground, and in the year 1888, the Oden Cemetery was established.

That's the whole of what the stone will tell you. But don't let the brevity fool you. Cemeteries don't get established without lives being lived nearby, without a community deciding that this ground, right here, matters enough to keep.

Somebody made that decision in 1888, and the ground has been keepin' faith with it ever since.
