The official marker's the word I'm goin' by, so here's what it tells us about the Old Kinkler Cemetery. Now, some places earn their stories in chapters and some earn 'em in silence. The Old Kinkler Cemetery, out here in Lavaca County, is one of the quiet kind.

It was established in 1880. That's the whole beginning right there, one year, one act, somebody chose this ground. And the ground has kept its purpose ever since.

In 2010, it was recognized as a Historic Texas Cemetery. That designation doesn't come for nothin'. It comes for endurance.

For still bein' there. The Old Kinkler Cemetery has been holdin' its place in Lavaca County since 1880, and the state of Texas took notice. Sometimes the most powerful stories are the ones a place tells just by remainin'.
