Here's how the official marker tells it, and I'll do my best to do it justice. Now, out here in Tarrant County, there's a story that starts the way a lot of good Texas stories start: with a handful of determined people, an empty room, and a Sunday morning. The Baptist Church of Christ of Pleasant Run was organized on April 7, 1877.

Four men formed the presbytery that made it official: J.Q. Barnett, L.H. Foster, A.J.

Hallford, and M.J. Mills. Four names.

One purpose. And a congregation that needed somewhere to sit down together. So they did what you do when you don't yet have a building of your own: you borrow one.

The congregation met first in the one-room Grange Hall, or Lodge, in what became known as Bransford. One room. That's it.

But one room is enough when you've got the will to fill it. From there they moved again, this time to the Pleasant Run School, located a short distance south of where the church building stands today. You can almost picture it; the same faithful folks, picking up and moving, getting a little closer each time to something permanent.

And then, in 1904, something shifted. W.H. Throop and Dave Vickers gave one acre of land for a church house.

One acre, freely given. That's the kind of generosity a community remembers. And from that single acre, the story kept building: Sunday School rooms came, then an educational facility, then a sanctuary.

Layer by layer, year by year. What started with four men in a borrowed hall grew into something with real walls and real roots. That's Pleasant Run Baptist Church.

The Baptist Church of Christ of Pleasant Run was organized on April 7, 1877, by a presbytery consisting of J.Q. Barnett, L.H. Foster, A.J. Hallford and M.J. Mills.
