Here's how the official marker tells it, and here's how I'm gonna tell it to you. Out here in Hood County, there's a piece of ground that's been holdin' the stories of a community for well over a century, and the story of Glenn Cemetery is one worth knowing. Andrew Jackson Glenn (now there's a name that carries some weight) donated land for cemetery use back in 1897.

But here's the thing that'll stop you in your tracks: when Glenn made that donation, there were already graves on that property. Already. The earliest dating all the way back to 1867.

So the land came with history already folded into it, quiet and waiting. Glenn Cemetery serves residents of Bluff Dale, an Erath County community sitting just to the west of this site, which means this burial ground in Hood County has been keeping watch over neighbors from the county next door for generations. That's the kind of arrangement that says something about how people actually lived out here, how community didn't stop at a county line.

Among those interred here are many of the prominent early residents of Bluff Dale, and veterans; men who had served in military conflicts dating back to the Civil War itself. Andrew Jackson Glenn among them, resting in the very ground he gave. For more than a hundred years, this cemetery has done what it was always meant to do: hold the people of Bluff Dale and the surrounding area close to the land they called home.

Glenn Cemetery, in Hood County, was established to serve residents of Bluff Dale, an Erath County community west of this site. Andrew Jackson Glenn, for whom the burial ground is named, donated land for cemetery use in 1897. There were already graves on the property by then, the earliest dating to 1867.
