Duane's take
Here's what the official marker has to say, and I'll tell it to you straight. Martha Mabray Randal came into this world in 1852, the child of J. N.
Mabray, a man who helped put Bosque County together from the ground up. Her father was one of the organizers of Bosque County, and he served as its very first clerk. Now, that's a family with roots sunk deep in Texas soil before the ink was even dry on the county's paperwork.
Martha grew up, married a man named Thos. J. Randal, and together they had eleven children.
Eleven. You think about that the next time you're feeling busy. She left this world in 1935, and the marker recording her life was set down in 1969.
Sometimes a life worth remembering is best honored simply, with the facts laid out plain. Martha Mabray Randal. Daughter of a county founder.
Wife. Mother of eleven. Bosque County remembers.
