Civil War Historical Markers in Texas
Texas left the Union in 1861, and the war reached it by sea at Galveston and Sabine Pass, along the Rio Grande, and on the frontier. The last land battle of the war was fought near Brownsville at Palmito Ranch in May 1865. These markers tell the soldiers', towns', and families' stories, each told out loud by Duane.
